bushToo often we beat around the bush or at worst make assumptions. I appreciate the importance of “saying it as it is” if you want your message to be received the way you want it to be received (in other words – your intention – before you delivered the message).

I have this appreciation because I failed to make my intent clear enough when talking to a client recently; and as a result I may miss out on some further work with them. You may have experienced the same thing – you want to talk “nicely” about further work – don’t want to sound or feel too pushy. Yet you really want the opportunity to undertake the work. So you maybe don’t say it like it really is – and as a result you miss out!

So I am on a mission to say it as it is – no more beating around the bush, polishing the message and worrying about sounding too pushy. If I really want the work I am going to say it. If I am really disappointed about losing out on an opportunity I am going to say it.

I’ll keep you posted on how I go. Would love to hear of your experiences if you are prepared to take up this challenge – say it as it is – for the next month!
