“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude”– Dr Maya Angelou
Such powerful words and advice yet far too many people I meet sit back and blame and wait for others and things to change – not them! I find working with existing and emerging leaders that this is exactly what happens – each population blames the other for not doing something. What if each individual took responsibility for simply changing their attitude? So they turned up to things and situations differently then the experience for each of them would be different!!
Sounds so easy; and yet why is it so difficult to do?
I think it is because it means individuals letting go of what is predictable – their “status quo” and that brings a different level of uncertainty. Far safer to just blame someone else, don’t you think?
Reflect on what holds you in the tail spin of blame.
