This character strength survey creates a profile of an individual’s character strengths. It was created by Dr. Martin Seligman, Director of the Positive Psychology Centre at the University of Pennsylvania. It is designed to help individuals recognise their strengths, and thereby have the knowledge to capitalise on them.

To complete this survey:

  • Visit www.authentichappiness.org
  • Under the Questionnaire menu, select VIA Survey of Character Strengths
  • Select the “register” button at the bottom of the page and complete the free registration form (make sure you remember your password)
  • Select “take test” for the VIA Survey of Character Strengths
  • Complete all of the 240 questions
  • Print off your report – and ensure it prints out data for the prioritisation and rating of all 24 strengths
