Over the past week I have been working with a leadership team to define the kind of culture that enables high performance and we explored how to do this courageously with an abundance mentality.
We pondered the idea that it becomes particularly challenging when the individual team members are remunerated for individual performance by way of commission and it was inspirational to witness the acceptance of each individual that they could replace the scarcity mindset with the abundance mindset and support each other to grow the pie interdependently.
To do this takes courage.
In many instances fear drives people back to the scarcity mindset – where we protect ourselves and don’t give anything away. The collective pie could very easily remain small as each person bunkers down to protect their lot.
The collective pie grows with abundance and preparedness to be vulnerable – and this takes courageous leadership of self!
