dramaFacilitating development initiatives over the last few weeks we have explored the destructive nature of the Karpman Drama Triangle – a destructive three way explosion of destructive emotions. Anger, sadness and fear collide and result in destructive conversations and interactions.

Although our intent may be pure  – we want to help someone we perceive is in need of our help – don’t be tempted. When someone feels like a victim – oh poor me – look what they are doing to me!! It is very natural for some of us to jump into rescuer mode so we can help them out of their situation. By doing this we affirm they are not strong enough to get themselves out of their dilemma and reinforce they need the help of others.

This is not a constructive approach and we recommend an achievement oriented conversation that guides them to take control of their situation and DO something differently to change the outcome.
